Awareness Program

Brothers, as Knights of Columbus our responsibility to promote our brotherhood and evangelize our Faith just a lot got easier. The Worthy State Deputy as designated me to work with Immaculate Heart Radio (IHR) to develop a program to help us accomplish our mutual awareness goals.

Recently, a pilot program was tested for the grand opening of the IHR Los Angeles station (KJH 930AM). Over two dozen councils placed awareness banners, flyers and posters in their parishes to announce IHR’s presence in greater L.A. area. For their help, they have been offered on-air acknowledgements to promote their events and membership. Due to the response, it has been decided to extend this same opportunity to all councils across the state.

Councils Participation

For councils that place Awareness Kits in their parishes: 21, 30-second long, noncommercial, on-air acknowledgements to run over a 21-day period to announce their events or if they prefer, new member recruitment.

Councils who place Awareness Kits in their parishes (with their pastor’s approval) can request this on-air acknowledgment package without cost (options to receive more spots are available*). Councils may use this announcement package for their events or membership recruitment. A three-week advance notice for production is required, except of recruitment announcements. A template for membership recruitment announcements will be produced ahead of time to reduce the period to one-week advanced notice. The District Deputy and your Field Agent must be informed about your recruitment announcement request. A designated staff member at IHR will be available to Councils who participate in this program to assist you.

To be eligible for the on-air announcements, Councils must confirm with IHR that they have placed and Awareness Kit in their parish.

The process for the Councils:

  1. Get permission from the pastor at your parish to place flyers, posters and a banner at your parish.
  2. Email to request your Awareness Kit.
  3. Place the flyers, posters and banners in suitable locations.
  4. The Field Agent (if none is assigned to that Council, the DD) will take photos to share with IHR and request the on-air acknowledgments using the email address
